How to Achieve a Beautiful Organic Garden

There are many all-natural methods out there you can use to grow a bright, vibrant, healthy organic garden. You just need to learn them and use them.

If you have a high priority for sustainability in your organic gardening, try leaving a corner of the property undeveloped as a mini wildlife refuge. Doing this will allow creatures that help plants to produce and pollinate to continue their actions, which will have a positive effect on the garden you develop.

To keep your houseplants happy during the day, your thermostat should be set anywhere between 65 and 75 degrees. Indoor plants grow best at these warm temperatures. You can also buy a heat lamp to maintain ideal conditions for your inside plants during the winter.

Have your tools for gardening nearby in order to maximize your efficiency with gardening. Large pockets or a sturdy bucket can be used to store tools. If you have your pruning shears, spade, trowel and gloves handy, you will be able to get your gardening chores done much more quickly.

Make sure you have some plastic bags around so that you can cover any muddy gardening shoes you have. This allows you to maintain your flow so you can rapidly get back to your gardening.

Use equal parts dried and green plant material for your own compost. Green plant mulches include everything from fresh grass clippings, to unwanted vegetables, to recently pulled weeds. Sawdust, straw, cardboard, paper and wood pulp are all examples of dried plant material. Avoid using ashes, charcoal, diseased plants and meat-eating animal manure.

Don’t use pesticides – kill your weeds naturally! To control the growth of weeds, all you need is last week’s Sunday paper. Weeds can only grow in sunlight. If you put a thick layer of newspaper on them, weeds will not be able to get light or air, and they will die! You can use newspapers because of how nicely they break down, they can be added into compost. Use mulch on the top in order to make everything look attractive.

Try using a beer trap to naturally eradicate slugs from your organic garden. Take a glass jar and bury it so that the soil is even with its mouth. Pour beer into the jar until it’s almost full. Leave an inch of space between the beer and the jar top. The beer attracts these slugs, but traps them in the jar.

It is a good idea to get organic garden certification so as to reaffirm your claims that your products really are organic. This will improve your sales and show your faithful customers that they are getting the best possible food that is grown.

Mulch your garden to keep the soil nourished. Protection is provided by placing the layer of mulch upon the soil. On hot days, mulch will also protect your plant’s roots by keeping them moist and cool. Mulch acts like a barrier that ultimately decreases the rate of evaporation. It can also help alleviate any weed issues.
